a home educator..

Are you a homeschooler? Then we have something in common, because I myself is one. I'm sure we can relate with the same worries, the same struggles and trials. I always knew, for some reason, deep inside I will homeschool. When I was pregnant with my first child, Ezekiel, my husband and I were very determined to homeschool. So as I approach motherhood I wanted to be ready and prepared for the task. Not until my eldest was 3 years old I started imitating what I thought was school at home is. I basically emulated what I experience when I was growing up except mine was walking to school with a huge back pack with textbooks. Then my second son, Jacob, was born, schooling at home became more challenging. But in my own aggressive way of making sure I homeschool I was able to teach Ezekiel how to read by 4. Now I'm not so sure if I should be proud of that. And you might wonder why.

In this stage of my life I myself is getting educated about what learning is. Which I will share with you  in a few.  Looking back I question my approach in Ezekiel's first year of schooling that I might have forced him to read when I should have inspired him to read. But I know that's the past, by God's grace I can keep looking at the present and future for more blessings of God's grace. Daily I'm learning that the purpose of our decision to homeschool is not anymore just for protecting our family values, but now it is also to instill in our children to love learning and grow from that. It isn't only just academics I should be focused on for my children, but to inspire them to learn about God and their God given life,  to face life with a strong foundation of Godly values that is worth living for, because that's what matters in the end.
